I will not take your picture.
I will not take your picture, because I am not just a photographer, I’m a storyteller.
I will capture your life and those are the photographs that will tug on your heartstrings.
Your daughter will hug you and I will capture that sweet moment. Your children will laugh and I will capture their laughter. Your son will be running too fast and he will fall and I will capture that moment when you pick him up, hold him and comfort him. Your family photos will not look staged, with every hair perfectly placed. They will show the real you and that is beautiful. You will be laughing and smiling. You will be sharing your own moment that’s just for you and no one else. Your love for one another will shine through in these moments of togetherness.
During your milestone session with me, your baby will scrunch up their nose from smiling too hard, and that will be your favorite photo. They will look up into the camera with a look of curiosity and amazement in their eyes. That will be the photo you frame. Right before your eyes, they will be growing up and I will capture these milestones for you. So that you can remember how they really were and be reminded of how very special they are.
During your newborn session, I will catch you smiling in awe of your newborn baby. I may see you shed a tear in amazement of how perfect they are. I will not take their picture, but I will capture them in all of their perfect, pureness and those photos will be a reminder of how beautiful and wonderful life is. I will encourage you to be in a photo with them, even if your hair is a mess and even if you haven’t showered in 3 days. Because it doesn’t matter. You don’t have to look a certain way to look beautiful, your moment with them will outshine your greasy hair. Your arms will wrap around them and I will see your love for them and when you see the photograph, you will see it too.
You will look back at your session feeling fulfilled. You will smile, you will laugh, you may cry but you will feel emotion.
Over the last year, I have done some soul searching and I have found that what really makes me feel whole, is telling stories of the different families I meet.
I will not take your picture, I will tell your story.
